A British actress, born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, United Kingdom on May 29, 1934. She was nominated for a BAFTA Award in 1972 for Best Actress for The Raging Moon (1971) and won the ESBFA Award in (1979) for Best Actress for International Velvet. She was married to actor, director, and producer Bryan Forbes (1955-2013), had two children, and remained with him until his death. She is known for The Stepford Wives (1975), International Velvet (1978), Long Ago, and Tomorrow (1971). She was known as an English film actress and author, who had a remarkable activity in the theater. She appeared in television commercials, presented many TV series, and wrote books. She also presented cooking programs for children and won the cookbook of the year award. She studied at Sternhold College and the Italian Conti Academy of Dramatic Art and trained for two years at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art RADA in London. She made her first artistic appearance when she was 11 years old when she presented the short film Here We Come Gathering: A Story of the Kentish Orchards (1945). She is known for the movie The Madwoman of Chaillot (1969), directed by her husband which won the British ESBFA Award, International Velvet.
