An American actress born in Idaho, US. After the murder of her father, she moved with her mother and sister to California, where she graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where she studied drama and appeared in a few amateur stage productions. During her work with the Federal Theater Project, she was spotted by a Warner Bros. talent scout and signed with them a 3-year contract. She made her film debut on They Won't Forget (1937). Other notable works of hers include Gold Diggers in Paris (1938), They Made Me a Criminal (1939), and I Want a Divorce (1940). She appeared in several other B-list films and her last appearance was on Rationing (1944) with MGM. She married ex-boxer William Fitzgerald. By the end of her life, she struggled with weight gain and alcoholism, and died in a house fire on 10 April 1945 in Los Angeles, California.
