An American actor, born in Haskell, Oklahoma, USA. In 1969, he married Dolly Benedict, and they had no children. His most important works include The Killing (1956), Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941), and Docks of New York (1945). His father died when Billy was still three years old, and he lived in the care of his mother with two sisters. He was active in drama at his high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and after graduating, he worked as a newspaper seller and assistant plumber. His first movie was $10 Raise (1935) and he continued to provide small roles with Fox. In 1939, Universal Pictures hired him in the cast of its Little Tough Guys series, which led him into the similar East Side Kids films, which became The Bowery Boys in 1946. He played the role of Whitey and made 24 films until late 1951. He began his journey with TV in the early fifties and participated in many television advertisements. He died following heart surgery at the age of 82.
