She relocated to Auckland in 1999 and began working on stage plays. She was a writer-in-residence at Ohio Northern University for a year. In 2006, she relocated to Australia and started producing short films. The Inland Road (2017), her debut feature film, had screenings at both the Seattle International Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. Her most famous work is The Breaker Upperers (2018), which she co-wrote, directed, and starred in.
