An American actor born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to actor Taylor Holmes and Canadian actress Edna Phillips. He made his first appearance at the Metropolitan Opera in 1927. He made his film debut on Varsity (1928). His notable works include An American Tragedy (1931), Night Court (1932), Men Must Fight (1933), and Great Expectations (1934). His career was tragically cut short when he was recruited in the air forces in WWII and met his demise in a plane crash in Ontario, Ottawa, Canada on 12 August 1942, at 35 years old. |
