An American actor, he was born in Brooklyn, on December 16, 1895. He got married to the actress Billie Rhodes (1927-1959), and she remained with him until his death. He joined the silent era of cinema by making his first film The Racket in 1928. He continued to work after sounds entered the movies. Most of his roles in television and cinema were the roles of soldiers and policemen, and he excelled in presenting war films. Among his most important works: All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), The Racket (1928), Mister Dynamite (1935) and The Silk Express (1933). He died in Los Angeles, on August 5, 1959, of cancer at the age of 63.
