He was a British actor, born in Yorkshire, England, UK. He appeared in the silent era of cinema, and he worked in American cinema and theater after sound entered films. All his films from 1919 to 1929 were British productions, and in 1929 he went to the USA, where he worked on Broadway in New York, and in 1935 he went to Hollywood and worked in American cinema and television. Among his notable works are The Four Feathers (1921), Days of Jesse James (1939), County Fair (1937), and Kansas Cyclone (1941). He died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, on November 3, 1975, at the age of 75.
