British actor, born on October 26, 1876, in London. He graduated from the University of London. He also studied acting in Paris and Italy. He got married to actress Rita Stanwood, and they had three children. Among his most famous works are: Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Lost Horizon (1937), It's a Wonderful Life (1946), and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939). He died on December 21, 1958, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, at the age of 82.
