Chester Clute was an American actor born in Orange, New Jersey, on February 18, 1891 as Chester Lamont Clute and died in Woodland Hills Los Angeles, California, on April 2, 1956 of a heart attack. His most important roles are in The Antique Shop (1931), There Goes My Girl (1937), Television Spy (1939) and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). Chester Clute acted in dozens of Hollywood films. He was a short, bald actor with a mustache, and he gained theater experience on Broadway from 1926, and began his film career at Paramount Studios, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Long Island. |
