Arthur Lowe's artistic career spanned 37 years, and he played starring roles in many theatrical and television productions in addition to his cinematic work. He received his education at Chapel Street School, then Alma Park School, where he practiced acting, and after graduation, he worked as a clerk for a motor accessory company and then in an aircraft factory. At the beginning of World War II, he joined the Ordnance Corps, and in 1942, he was sent to Egypt, where he transferred to the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. After a period in the Suez Canal area, he learned the Arabic language, contributed to theatrical entertainment for soldiers, formed an amateur acting club, and helped establish the Mercury Theatre in Alexandria. After the war, he returned to England and continued his theatrical work until 1948, when he turned to film and then television work in addition to his theatrical work, and in his last days, he made many television commercials. Arthur Lowe died in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, on April 15, 1982, from complications of a stroke at the age of 66.
