An Indian dancer and choreographer, born in Bombay. She began her career as a child, appearing as a background dancer in films such as Madhumati (1958). She learned dance and married choreographer Sohanlal at a young age. She later married businessman Sardar Roshan Khan, with whom she had a daughter, Sakina. She began her career as a freelance choreographer with the 1974 film Geeta Mera Naam and achieved widespread fame years later with the dance Hawa Hawai in the 1987 film Mr. India. She collaborated with many stars, such as Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, and choreographed memorable dance numbers for them, including the dance Ek Do Teen in the 1988 film Tezaab and the dance Tamma Tamma Loge in the 1990 film Thanedaar. She became one of the most successful choreographers in Bollywood and worked with Madhuri Dixit again in the 2014 film Gulaab Gang. She was also a member of the advisory board of Rishi Kapoor University.
