An American actress, born in Waco, Texas, on November 21, 1894. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Leading Actress for The Divine Lady (1928). She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. She was married four times, all of whom ended in divorce, but she adopted two daughters. She was a popular silent film and theater actress, producer, author and businesswoman. She's known for Love's Wilderness (1924), The Lady in Ermine (1927) and Into Her Kingdom (1926). Griffith died in 1979 of a heart attack, at age 84.
