British actress. Prior to attending Victoria University College, Auckland University College, and Auckland Teachers' Training College, she attended Masterton's Solway College. She made her acting debut in radio plays on acetate records while pursuing an arts degree at Victoria University. She made her first television acting appearance after returning to New Zealand from London, playing a little part in In View of the Circumstances and All Earth to Love (1963). In 1940, the Old Vic Theater Center in London awarded a scholarship to her, making her one of the first students from New Zealand to study directing. After that, she worked as an assistant director at the Young Vic before going back to New Zealand to work as an actor and director on the side at Wellington's Downstage Theater. She is known for The Flying Doctors (1985) and Closer to Home (1978-1980). She was active on stage until her eyesight failed in her early 70s.
