An American actor, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, on November 21, 1920, as Ralph Rathgeber. He married three times and did not have children. He is known for Paths of Glory (1957), The Dirty Dozen (1967), and Kiss Me Deadly (1955). He worked in theater, film, and television. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1942 and specialized in music. He practiced acting in the university's theater, after which he moved to New York to study acting and perform in local theater companies. Ralph served in the US Navy during World War II and was discharged after several months due to a neck injury, but he worked in entertaining the troops as a member of the USO. In 1945, he finally arrived on Broadway, then signed with MGM after participating in Four in a Jeep (1951). He died on August 5, 1988, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA, of a heart attack.
