A British actor of Chinese descent, born in Warrington, England, UK. He grew up in Shanghai. He married actress Caroline Leigh (1962-2016), they had one child, and she remained with him until his death. Among his notable works are Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978), Kiss of the Dragon (2001) and Goldfinger (1964). He studied at the Jesuit Mission School in Shanghai, and traveled to America to study law at Bowdoin College in Maine. When his father's fortune was lost in 1949, he took several jobs to support himself. When he came to England, he worked as a film extra until he took on the role of Cato in the Pink Panther films. He then took on bigger roles, playing stereotypical Asian characters and Chinese, Japanese and Korean army officers. His work has included radio dramas, video games and television commercials. He was awarded the OBE in the 2011 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to drama. He died of cancer in Hampstead, London, England, UK on May 24, 2016.
