    A British actor, born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom, as Benjamin Arthur Flemyng. He married Carmen Martha Sugars (1939-1994) and they had a daughter. His credits include Danger Man (1960), Funny Face (1957), The Battle of Britain (1969), and The Deadly Affair (1967). Robert was a character actor with a theatrical career that lasted sixty years. Robert was born the son of a doctor from Liverpool. He studied medicine and left it after a short period of practice, preferring to become a theater musician. He learned theatrical art at the Regional Repertory Theatre and performed some supporting roles in the theater. In 1935, he appeared in a leading role in the West End Theatre, and the following year, he achieved his first success in the comedy Without Tears. He then played leading roles in London and Liverpool. He also appeared on Broadway in New York in a series of comedies. Flemyng served in the British Royal Army Medical Corps during World War II, reaching the rank of colonel, and was awarded the Military Cross (MC) in 1941. He was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1944 for his services to the Royal Army. He continued his work in the theater after the end of the war. He began his film career in 1937 when he appeared in the movie Head Over Heels (1937), and he made more than 30 films, the last of which was Shadowlands (1993). He began his television career at the beginning of television broadcasting with By Candlelight (1949), and his most notable television series was Compact (1962-1965), in which he appeared in 152 episodes. He suffered a stroke that put him in a coma, then he regained consciousness and lost the ability to speak. He died in London, England, United Kingdom on May 22, 1995.
