She immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her mother Edna, her father Harry, and her younger brother Gary. She started acting in the live theater at the famous Stratford Festival in Ontario. She played the role of Portia in The Merchant of Venice in 1976. She is known for A Winter Tan (1987), The Dead Zone (1983), and Deck the Halls (2006). She died on September 22, 2010, in Toronto, at the age of 71, due to stomach cancer.
