An American character actor, born to Russian-Jewish immigrant parents in the Bronx, New York, USA, on December 25, 1928, as Richard Miller. He married actress and producer Lainie Miller (1967-2019), and they had a child. He received the Impact Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Hollywood Horrorfest Awards in 2014 and the Fangoria Horror Hall of Fame Award at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards in 1999. He's known for The Terminator (1984), The 'Burbs (1989) and Gremlins (1984). He served a tour of duty in the United States Navy.
He attended the City College of New York and Columbia University and earned a doctorate in psychology, and he was a writer before turning to acting. He also worked as a graduate psychologist at the same time he performed on Broadway and also worked at the Bellevue Hospital Mental Hygiene Clinic and the psychiatric department of Queens General Hospital. Miller appeared in more than 180 films, including many produced by Roger Corman. He died in Toluca Lake, California, USA, on January 30, 2019, due to a heart attack.
