Salma El-Sharkawy |
An American actor, born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA. He had three wives and two children. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and joined the Canadian Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Following the war, he held various jobs before becoming a motorcycle messenger at a film lab. After crashing into the doors of Paramount and sustaining a broken leg, the studio promptly offered him medical assistance. Once he recovered, he signed a contract and participated in silent films. He began his artistic career with the film Ladies Must Live (1921). Among his works are Wings (1927), Island of Lost Souls (1932), and The Big Bonanza (1944).
