A British actress, born in London, England, on March 11, 1934, and died in London, England, on February 13, 2009 of lung cancer. Among her most notable work: The Gay Lady (1949), Carry On Cruising (1962), and Dog Eat Dog (2001). She first appeared on stage at the age of 14 in 1948. She began her film career in the fifties, working in popular films, such as Paper Gallows (1950) and Doctor at Large (1957). She is best known for her participation in the Carry On franchise, which began with Carry On Cruising (1962). She worked on West End, as well as Broadway in 1954, when she participated with Julie Andrews in a musical. She worked in cinema and theater until her death in 2008, at the age of 74.
