A New Zealand/Chinese film director, whose first feature film was the first theatrically released feature film by a Chinese New Zealand production and became the highest-grossing domestic feature film of 2011. She learned computer science at school in 1995. Then she went to study at the University of Auckland and graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Theater. Her first significant film was Banana in a Nutshell, a documentary film based on her cross-cultural romance with a European native from New Zealand. She is known for Shadow in the Cloud (2020), Do No Harm (2017), and My Wedding and Other Secrets (2011).
