An American director, screenwriter, makeup artist, actor, and author, born in Miami, Florida, USA, on December 14, 1943. He married twice and had a child. He won the Rotscar Award at the Housecore Horror Film Festival in 2015 and the Medalla Sitges en Plata de Ley at the Sitges - Catalonian International Film Festival in 1975. He is known for My Bodyguard (1980), Deathdream (1974) and Mulan (1998). Alan studied drama at the University of Florida. Besides his work in film, he is known for authoring the 1970s special make-up effects book "Movie Monsters". His last work as a writer was two episodes of the TV series The District (2002), after which he retired.
