An English actor, director, and assistant producer, born in Westerham, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Anthony Bushell was married twice and had no children. Among his most important works are The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934), A Night to Remember (1958), Five Star Final (1931), and The Royal Bed (1931).
Anthony Bushell started working on stage in 1924. He graduated from Hertford College, Oxford, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He spent most of his early career in the United States, starring in Broadway plays, and started working in Hollywood in 1929.
He tended to play military roles before returning to England, and he continued to appear on the cinema screen, stage, and sometimes television. Bushell joined the Royal Army during World War II and was commissioned into the Welsh Guards as a tank squadron commander. He died in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom on April 2, 1997, at the age of 92.
