A British actor, born in Rangoon, Myanmar on February 28, 1925. He won the 1963 BAFTA Television Award for Best Actor. Harry H. Corbett married twice and had two children. Among his most important works are Steptoe & Son (1962-1974), Rattle of a Simple Man (1964), Steptoe & Son (1972), and Carry On Screaming! (1966). Harry H. Corbett was born the youngest of seven children in Rangoon, Burma, to an army officer father. His mother died when he was young. He moved to England and grew up in Manchester with his aunt. He attended Bliss and Benchil Primary Schools, then joined Sharston High School. He served in the Royal Marines during World War II, and after performing military service, he trained as a radiographer before pursuing a career in acting. He joined a theater company and appeared in many plays during the 1950s. He moved to the cinema and made his first film, Never Look Back (1952), and appeared in more than 30 films. Most of them were B-rated, and he made few films about crime, so he maintained a prominent position in British cinema. During the 1970s, he suffered a series of heart attacks due to his heavy smoking. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1976 for his services to drama. He also released several albums, containing more than 30 songs. He suffered a heart attack in 1979, and after leaving the hospital, he appeared in the Churchill Theatre, performing a pantomime. He was seriously injured in a car accident but continued to act on television until he died in Hastings, East Sussex, England, United Kingdom on March 21, 1982, from a heart attack.
