A British actress, born on September 14, 1935. She got married twice and did not have children. She was born to an accountant father and mother who encouraged her to become an artist, as they called her Shirley, after the child prodigy Shirley Temple. Her grandfather ran a theater in Aston, and she first appeared on its stage at the age of three. Shortly after, she began practicing singing and dancing, she won a talent competition, and made her first appearance in pantomime at the age of 13. She studied at St Ann's College, then studied acting at Conn Ripman School of Educational Arts, and then at Bristol Theater School. Among her most important works: Carry On Cleo (1964), Coronation Street (1981-2006), Ooh La La! (1968-1973) and Bad Girls (2003-2006). In 1997 Amanda suffered from a serious eye disease, which led to her losing sight in her left eye, but she continued her acting performance, especially pantomime.
