A French director, born in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. In 1954, after studying at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques, he learned directing, notably with Marcel Carné, and worked as a long-term assistant director with Marcel Camus and Jean-Paul Le Chanois. His most notable films include The Medic (1979), Une étrange affaire (1981), Cours privé (1986), La couleur du vent (1988), La dernière fête (1996), Noyade interdite (1987), and Adieu poulet (1975). He died on November 16, 2007 in Paris.
