An American playwright, born in New York. He is the only playwright to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama four times. He also won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1936. His plays are known for their realistic depiction of human conflicts and their exploration of themes such as family, fate, and the human condition. Among his most famous plays are Long Day's Journey into Night (1956), The Iceman Cometh (1946), A Moon for the Misbegotten (1947), and Anna Christie (1922). He died on November 27, 1953, in Kilachand Honors College, Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
