After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Clark Atlanta University to study music, then transferred to Georgia State University to study speech and drama. She soon became an actress in the Alliance Theatre Company, where she devoted herself to acting and singing. Her works include the television film The Innocent, the film Based on an Untrue Story, and the film The Barefoot Executive.
