A Chinese actress, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. She began her acting career in 1937 at the age of seventeen and starred in more than two hundred and fifty films over fifty-four years. She was also famous for her Mandarin films in Shanghai, and her film Tian zi di yi hao in 1946 achieved a huge success. She collaborated with the director and her husband Tu Kuang-Chi in most of her films at the beginning of her career.
