• A British actor born in Cambridgeshire, England, on May 14, 1915, and died in Bath, Somerset, England, on July 4, 1999. His notable work includes: Peeping Tom (1960), The Devil's...Read more Bridge (1968) and The Wild Geese (1978). During World War II, he was a physical training instructor in the Royal Navy, and his physical fitness was evident in many of his subsequent roles on screen. His talent and proficiency in some regional dialects led him to regularly work on various radio comedy programs of the Royal Navy, such as The Navy Mixture. He later turned to television, where he had his first major role in the series Coronation Street (1961-1984). His most famous role was in the series Arthur of the Britons (1972-1973). His last television appearance was in a major role in the series Edge of Darkness (1985). His first major movie role was that of a detective in Peeping Tom (1960), and his last movie appearance was in Tangiers (1982). Jack Watson died in 1999 at the age of 84.
