An Anglo-Irish writer and playwright, born in London, United Kingdom, to the Dunsany family, one of the most prestigious Irish families. He assumed the title after the death of his father at an early age, becoming the eighteenth Baron of the Dunsany family. He received an honorary doctorate from Trinity College, Dublin. He worked with William Butler Yeats, the famous Irish writer, and the Anglo-Irish writer Lady Gregory.
Dunsany began his writing career in 1890 and was an active writer. Throughout his life, he wrote many novels, short stories, plays, and poems. He wrote more than ninety books. He became famous in 1924 for his fantasy novel "The King of Elfland's Daughter". Some of his credits include It Happened Tomorrow (1944) and Dean Spanley (2008). He died on October 25, 1957 in Dublin, Ireland.
