An Indian actress, born in Calcutta, India. She is known for her work in Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Marathi films. She studied at Loreto Convent, Shillong, graduated from Somerville College, Oxford University, and obtained an MA in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University, Calcutta. She has starred in several Bollywood films and has appeared in many television series. She won the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1987 for her role in Sirivennela (1986). Her films include Love at Times Square (2003), It Was Raining That Night (2014), and Bow Barracks Forever (2004).
