A British film and television actor, born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom. He graduated from Stamford School, studied modern languages ​​at Trinity College in Dublin, and trained as a Latin and French teacher. He appeared in repertory theatre in Oxford, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in the West End. He was usually typecast as tough guys and villains. Among his notable works are Where Eagles Dare (1968), Clash of the Titans (1981) and Time Bandits (1981).
