An American actress, born in Chicago. She enjoyed a prolific stage career before achieving television fame with Barney Miller (1975-1977) and later in the miniseries Fish (1977-1978). Her most notable roles are in Up the Down Staircase (1967), The Day of the Dolphin (1973), and The Fortune (1975).
