She established herself as a prominent actress in television drama, but she was initially a stage actress in New Zealand before launching her stage career in England, where she won an acting scholarship to a London acting school at the age of 20. Among her credits are The Forsyte Saga (1967), The Protectors (1972), and Hilary and Jackie (1998). She died of leukemia on April 10, 2001 in London, England, UK.
