She appeared on local theaters as a teenager and then she worked in British films from the mid-1940s till the early 1960s, when she moved to Hollywood and settled there. She began her career doing various genres of films like comedy, musicals, adventure, and mystery, but gained popularity as a "scream queen" in The Curse of Frankenstein (1957). Other notable works of hers include The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1959), Danger Man (1960-1961), and The Masque of Red Death (1964). She married twice and had three children. She died of a heart attack on 15 April 2008 in California, USA. |
