An American actor and director of the silent era, born in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. He was educated at Dean Academy and Amherst College. He was a prominent figure on Broadway from 1906 to 1947. He served as a sergeant in the Spanish-American War in 1898 with a group of volunteers in Massachusetts. In the 1930s, he worked as a model for men's clothing. He married actress May Abbey. Among his notable credits are The Corsican Brothers (1915), His Own Story (1916) and Serum of Evil (1922). He died in Westbrook, Connecticut, USA, on June 3, 1947, at age 67.
