English singer, actress, and songwriter, born in Braintree, Essex, England, United Kingdom. She trained as a radiographer in Coventry after completing her scientific studies at Lanchester Polytechnic, which is now Coventry University. After finishing her education, she spent five years working for the NHS before going into the music business. She was one of the original members of the band The Selecter, which was founded in 1979 in Coventry. She is also an actress, with roles in film and television, known for Funny Man (1994), Hearts and Minds (1995), Two Thousand Acres of Sky (2001), and Out of the Blue (1995).
