An American actor and director, he was born in Cleveland on January 17, 1878. He is a screen and stage actor, film and theater director and theater producer. He initially worked in commerce, then took theater as a profession. His first participation was in 1900 and soon became the youngest theater director in America. His most important works as director are: The Squaw Man (1914), Bulldog Drummond (1922), A Man of Sorrow (1916) and The Battle of Hearts (1916). He died in 1938 of a heart attack at the age of 60.
