She holds a BA in Painting and Drawing from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She joined the folk band Spur Of The Moment...Read more when she was a teen and sang in coffeehouses. She performed in a local duet called "The Myrtle Avenue Watermelon" while in college. She gained recognition with her first appearance in The Warriors (1979), and she is also known for Too Close for Comfort (1980-1985).
