A British film, television and stage actress born Madeline Angela Clinton Baddeley in West Ham, London, UK. She made her stage debut aged 8, and the following year, she stood on the Old Vic theater performing in Richard III. As a teenager, she starred in several musicals, mime shows, and Shakespearean dramas. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1975 and 1976. Her notable works include The Speckled Band (1931), Tom Jones (1963), and Upstairs, Downstairs (1971-1975). She died of pneumonia on 22 February 1976 in Hampshire, UK.
