He often played detectives, police officers, henchmen, bartenders, truck or taxi drivers, sheriffs, cooks, conductors, guards, and waiters. Ralph served in the US Infantry during World War I. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on June 20, 1963, from heart disease, at the age of 64.
