An American actor and media personality, who became a household name over five decades. He is best known as the longtime host of The Price Is Right (1972–2007), the longest-running game show in North American television history, and Truth or Consequences (1956–1975). In addition to his television career, Barker appeared in the comedy film Happy Gilmore (1996) alongside Adam Sandler, showcasing his comedic timing to a new generation. Beyond entertainment, he was a passionate animal rights activist, frequently using his public platform to advocate for animal welfare. Barker retired in June 2007, concluding a remarkable career that earned him 19 Emmy Awards. He passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the age of 99.
