An American actor born in Portland, Oregon, on August 29, 1882. He was married to Alice Nixon and they divorced in 1947. He began his career in theater, doing dramas, musical comedies and vaudeville. He's best known for playing Mr. Peavey in three of the Great Gildersleeve movies, including Gildersleeve's Bad Day (1943) and The Great Gildersleeve (1954). He also worked on radio since 1929. Richard died on June 29, 1963, at the age of 81. |
