British actor, born in Gloucestershire, England, on May 12, 1903. He is a British actor and singer with a sweet charm, who has worked in theatre, film and television. His father was a priest at Gloucester Cathedral, he attended Marlborough College and RADA. He appeared in the theater in 1922 and after 3 years he worked in the West End theaters in London. His first movie was Josser on the Farm in 1934. He presented many additional roles during the thirties and forties, then became a key player in the British cinema during the fifties. He got married twice and had three sons. He was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Dramatic Actor on Broadway in 1957 and 1973, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1980. His most important works are: My Fair Lady (1964), Let's Make Love (1960), and The Third Man (1949). He died in Woodland Hills in Los Angeles, on May 6, 1991 of heart failure.
