He is known for being a British theater, film, and television actor and voice actor. He studied at Sir Walter St John's Grammar School. He began his career in comedy theater in 1950. He also appeared in several other theaters and in the pantomime of women. He did voice performances in animated films for children and had a long history in serials and television programs starting in the mid-fifties. His first movie was The Blue Lamp (1950), and his last movie was King of the Wind (1990).
