An Irish-born American stage and screen actor and drama teacher, born in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK on January 30, 1881 as Thomas Wheeler Kane. Among his notable works are Hide-Out (1934), Indian Summer (1948) and The Adventures of Mark Twain (1944). He played the First Gravedigger in many productions of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and taught it to many drama students, and his career lasted 6 decades.
He took to the Belfast stage at the age of 20, and in 1910, he was performing on the London stage.
When he immigrated to America in 1912, he worked on Broadway, where he presented 56 productions over a period of 53 years, and he stopped due to illness. He appeared in a few films in the thirties and forties, playing the roles of beloved characters, and caught up with the beginnings of television broadcasting and presented 3 works. He died of cancer in New York City, USA on December 17, 1956.
