He then worked in the restaurant field until he opened his own Italian restaurant in 1956, which was frequented by Hollywood stars. After the restaurant was closed, he retired and managed a residential building, then retired permanently in the mid-seventies. He was married three times and had a son. His works include The Iron Mask (1929), The Amateur Gentleman (1926), and Two Sisters from Boston (1946). He died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA on December 23, 1982, at age 89.
