A New Zealand actress, born in Christchurch, New Zealand. She first worked on stage as a child during the 1890s with the Pollard Opera Company. She was fond of musical comedy, later appearing in Australia and England in music halls and variety theatres, often alongside comedian Edward Laurie. She toured Australia and New Zealand again between 1922 and 1929, and the following year moved to Hollywood, where she appeared in films until her death. Her films included The Road to Singapore (1931), The Little Minister (1934), Distress (1937), and Lassie Come Home (1943). She died on 1 April 1945 in Covina, USA.
