An American actor and glamour photographer born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 3, 1916, as Peter Andrew Gowland. Among his notable works are The Adventures of Frank Merriwell (1936) and Eagle and the Hawk (1971). He was known for designing his own studio...Read more equipment, and was active professionally for six decades, with his business partner Alice Adams Gowland, whom he married in 1941, they had two children, and she stayed with him until his death. He spent some time at the British Military Academy in Hollywood, and participated in World War II (1942-1946) as a photographer sergeant, and appeared in films in small parts and dancing roles, but his true passion was photography, and he had a private studio. He photographed more than 1,000 magazine covers, most of them glamour shots of supermodels, but also portraits of many celebrities including Rock Hudson and Robert Wagner. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on March 17, 2010, as a result of complications following hip surgery, at age 93.
